Maria-Magdalena Leim, nee Keverich was the name of the woman who in 1770 became the mother of the great composer Ludwig van Beethoven. This happened in Bonn. But it was in this house in Koblenz that Beethoven spent several years of his childhood, though later he went to Bonn again, and from Bonn to Vienna, where he lived until his death, creating his most significant works.
The house museum in Koblenz keeps an impressive collection of letters and music notebooks of the great composer, as well as his diaries. The house is located exactly in the same spot as during Beethoven’s times. However the exterior and the interior of the house have been changed, as due to many wars the building was greatly damaged.
