In 1977 the headquarters of the famous German company Käthe Wohlfahrt was moved to Rothenburg ob der Tauber. The company specializes in the production of Christmas decorations. The company’s flagship store is in Rothenburg ob der Tauber -a real kingdom of Santa Claus. It sells nutcrackers, music boxes, garlands, Christmas decorations made of wood, glass and tin, pyramids, Christmas calendars –about 30 thousand decorations and toys, in total. One of the founders of the company - Harald Wohlfahrt - opened German Christmas Museum on the second floor, where he collected jewelry samples from the Middle Ages to the 1950s. 150 Santa Claus figurines from different historical periods are the highlight of the museum's collection.
