The oldest parish church in Munich, named "Alter Peter" (Ole Peter) by the townspeople, is located in the heart of Munich. Its construction started in the XI century! Later the temple was repeatedly expanded and rebuilt. Its architectural style ranged from Romanesque to the Rococo. The gilded Baroque altar, created in the first third of the XVIII century was preserved inside. During World War II, Alter Peter was almost completely destroyed. Now it is restored to its previous look. 300 steps take to the top from where it is nice to observe the show of the figurines on the New City Hall.
