The medieval Church of St. Peter and Paul located near Ratingen’s main square, Marktplatz, is one of the oldest hall churches of the Rhenish Land. A small Romanesque church was built at this place in the XII century and a hundred years later it was expanded and one more nave in the Gothic style was added. As such, the church survived until the XIX century.
After the XIX century the church was repeatedly rebuilt and restored, but it managed to keep its authentic architectural appearance and interior decoration. You can hear the organ music under the arches of the church and the tower bells (three of which are medieval) sound every day.
