Zasetsky House in Vologda belonged to an old noble family, tracing its history to an Italian who came to Russia in the 14th century. At the end of the XVIII century, it was decided to make the modern Leningradskaya Street a ceremonial one, and the local nobles got permission to build their estates here, adhering to the classical style approved by the authorities. So a green Zasetsky house with a red roof, a mezzanine, a portico with four columns, a balcony and a triangular pediment appeared in front of the Kremlevskiy Garden.
The inside decoration of Zasetsky House was made to the owners’ liking. They installed mahogany doors and large white glased tile stoves. In the late XIX century, under the famous physician Nikolay Zasetsky, the house was decorated with carvings in the Art Nouveau style. After the revolution, the family lost the house, as it was nationalized. Now the building is empty and needs restoration.
