The wooden post office in Chita for 125 years of existence has never changed its destination! The mansion was built in 1893 precisely as a city post office building. According to the project, the central part of the post office with the spire is surrounded by two symmetrically arranged extensions. In prerevolutionary times the post office sheltered a savings bank, a consumer society and a public library.
А club of radio amateurs was functioning in the building of the post office in the first decade of the Soviet power. And from here Chita radio amateurs started receiving programs from Moscow and Khabarovsk in 1927. After a serious restoration in 2012 the post office in the wooden mansion continues performing its functions.
