Three kilometers far from Zvenigorod is the Vvedenskoe estate, named after the village on the high bank of the Moskva River. The estate was laid in the early XIX century, commissioned by Emperor Paul I for his favorite — the princess Anna Lopukhina. After her death, Vvedenskoe estate passed from hand to hand, and after the revolution of 1917 it housed an art and craft school and a history and art museum.
Vvedenskoe estate was rebuilt more than once. With the addition of colonnades, capitals and towers it has acquired a modern look. Now Vvedenskoe is a single ensemble of an estate, a temple and a large forest park with ponds and alleys. The famous Soviet and Russian film director Sergei Bondarchuk filmed his legendary film «War and Peace» in this estate. Vvedenskoe estate was the home of the old Prince Bolkonsky. Now there is a sanatorium «Zvenigorod» in the estate. The church does not work, and the estate can be accessed as part of excursions organized by local travel agencies.
