Volgograd Regional Local Lore Museum was founded in 1914 with the support and financing of the local merchants. If you are interested in exhibits telling about the different periods in the life of Volgograd, its economic development, about the peoples who once inhabited this land and their culture, then you should visit the museum.
During the Great Patriotic War, the museum had to be evacuated and a lot was lost. It was fully recovered only by 1960. The museum has an interesting ethnographic exhibition of the Don Cossacks; it also has an archaeological hall, which displays works of art and everyday objects made by ancient people.
