The ancient building of the cathedral mosque in Ufa is located on Tukayev Street. For this reason its popular name is the mosque on Tukayev. Art historians think this mosque is one of the most interesting city buildings made in the style of classicism and with a pyramidal minaret. For the believers it is already for the third century that the mosque has been an important religious center. It is believed that the mosque looks amazingly with backlight in the dark.

For a long time the Cathedral Mosque in Ufa served as the main Muslim temple of the country. In the second half of the twentieth century only this mosque received believers from all over Bashkortostan. Currently, the Central Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Russia is located here. Every Friday from the pulpit of the mosque the Supreme Mufti of the country Talgat Tatzhuddin gives his sermons. In addition to the mosque itself and the minarets belonging to it, there is a spiritual school of madrassas on the territory of the mosque.
