The Transfiguration Cathedral of Khabarovsk is the largest Orthodox church in the city and one of the three tallest churches in Russia. In height it lags only behind the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour in Moscow and St. Isaac's Cathedral in St. Petersburg. Its height together with crosses is 95 meters.
The Transfiguration Cathedral located on the Square of Fame is a new temple. They started erecting it in 2001. And in October 2003 the first moleben was served here. According to the design of architects, this five-dome temple in the traditionally Russian style had to become the main church of the Russian Far East. A group of Moscow artists were invited to Khabarovsk to create frescos in the interior of the cathedral.
