The Biggest Globe in Europe

The biggest globe in Europe can be seen on the outskirts of Smolensk, in a small town of Dorogobuzh. This giant objet d'art 12 meters high and over ten meters in diameter was placed near the Dorogobuzhsky chemical plant in 2007.
The biggest globe in Europe is made from the former gasholder, which was used to store nitrogen in chemical production. A grandiose globe holds on the pillars of durable metal and is covered with art painting. The globe is illuminated at night. In addition to the fact that the Dorogobuzh globe is recognized as the biggest in Europe, it is also considered the world’s second largest one after the American Eartha globe, 12.6 meters in diameter.
