A snow-white reinforced-concrete Stele "Ladya" (sailboat) stretches up almost 20 meters. The form of the monument is symbolic: here, at a section of the Trade route from the Varangians to the Greeks, sailboats ran through the Volga long before the foundation of Samara.
Stele "Ladya" was installed in Samara in 1986 on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of the city foundation. It was quickly indued with mystical properties. So, it is believed that on the wedding day the newlyweds should have their picture taken in front of the Stele that will guard their family against storms, since the "Ladya" is a symbol of an unsinkable ship of love. The Stele is able to admit up to 200 passengers - three times more than a real boat!
