Krasnoyarsk’s Railway Station Square looks very elegant and European. There are both beautifully illuminated fountains and elegant wrought-iron benches and lights on it, which in a way resemble the lights on Palace Square in St. Petersburg.
The architectural composition of Railway Station Square is complemented by the proud statue of a lion with a hammer and spade. This is the heraldic symbol of the city: the lion symbolizes the Siberians’ courage and strength, and the hammer and spade symbolize traditional local crafts, agriculture and gold mining. The area is often called the gateway to the city.
