In the XIII century on the bank of the Zaprudnaya River Prince Vasily Yaroslavich found the Feodorovskaya Icon of the Mother of God and ordered to build a monastery on this site. And in the XVII century the Spaso-Zaprudnenskaya church was built here, which has been preserved to this day.
In 1760 the Kostroma Theological Seminary was transferred to the territory of the Spaso-Zaprudnensky Monastery. Here there were audiences, a library and residential buildings. After the revolution of 1917 all the traditional church holidays in the monastery were abolished. But the main temple has never been closed. The full-fledged church life was resumed here only in 1991. The Image of the Savior Non-Made-By-Hands, which is kept in the temple and dates back to the 13th century, is of a particular interest of pilgrims.
