The Pushkin square is one of the central squares of Ivanovo. Previously, it looked absolutely different. The Intercession Monastery and its two cathedrals - Pokrovsky and Troitsky stood in the Peski town on the bank of the Uvod River, which have not survived since the 30s of the XX century. In 1939 on the square, which by that time was named after the Russian poet Alexander Pushkin, the third largest in the USSR (after the theatres in Novosibirsk and Rostov) Ivanovo's big drama theater was built. Now Ivanovo Musical Theater, Puppet Theater, Regional Drama Theater and even a nightclub are located in this building.
Pushkin Square itself, where several city streets flock, is a place of street festivities, folk festivities and one of the favorite places of rest for the townspeople. Here there are attractions, light and music fountain, and a commemorative sign "Zero kilometer of the Ivanovo Oblast" is in the post office at the corner of the Lenina Square and Pochtovaya Street. There are several restaurants and cafes on the square.
