The Privokzalnaya Square in Khabarovsk began to be formed in 1897 when the first railway station was built here. But in 1920 a one-story wooden building was destroyed by fire. The new stone terminal of the station was erected in 1926, and in nine years the station was completed finally. During the reconstruction in 2007 the architects additionally decorated the facades of the building giving it a grand look.
In summer 2008 the railway station of Khabarovsk was named after the pioneer Yerofey Khabarov, although the monument to him appeared here half a century ago - May 29, 1958. The sculptor created a majestic figure of the explorer scanning the horizon. The height of the bronze figure of Khabarov together with the pedestal is 11.5 meters. Here Khabarov reminds of an epic hero: the sculptor himself came up with such an image, since neither Khabarov's portraits, nor even the verbal descriptions of his appearance have survived.
