In the Petrovskaya Toy Museum one can learn the fascinating story of the clay whistle-guard, see how pottery is born, work on the potter's wheel and mold and paint a clay craft under the guidance of a master. The name – Petrovskaya was fixed for a toy-whistle because in old times these toys were made in the village of Petrovskaya not far from Kostroma.
More than a thousand exhibits, dedicated to the pottery traditions of Kostroma and other regions of Russia, are shown to the guests of the Petrovskaya Toy Museum. One of the halls tells about the Peterovskaya toys, in others the famous Dymkovo, legendary Filimonovo, bright Kargopol and other toys, popular in pre-revolutionary Russia, are presented. And in the souvenir shop one can choose whistles, cups, jugs and other clay products for memory.
