An unusual temple, as if coming here from Byzantium or ancient Russia, stands on one of the Tomsk mountains towering above the Ushayka River. This is the Peter and Paul Cathedral. It was set here only at the beginning of the 20th century and consecrated in 1911. It is believed that at this place the famous local robber Mukha repented once. For a long time there were only a small chapel and a wooden cross there.
For many years the Peter and Paul Cathedral was the only active temple in Tomsk. Now they come here to admire the wooden carved iconostasis in the style of the Siberian baroque. One of the icons of the temple attracts attention with a charred frame. This is the miraculous image of St. Nicholas who stopped the fire in the church in Epiphany in 1986. The fire then reached the icon of St. Nicholas and suddenly ceased. In memory of the miraculous salvation of the temple, the icon was not restored.
