The Mikhailovskoye Museum-Reserve is located 100 kilometers from Pskov. It was established on the site of the former noblewoman Nadezhda Osipovna Gannibal’s estate, the mother of the great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin. The poet visited this estate for many times. But the longest period that he spent on the estate was during the exile from 1824 to 1826. Over these years in Mikhailovskoye the poet completed more than one hundred works. The main chapters of the novel in the poems "Eugene Onegin" were written here
Mikhailovskoye Museum Reserve occupies a rather large territory, which exceeds even the small state of San Marino. The reserve includes landed estates with shady parks, churches and settlements, rivers and lakes that inspired Pushkin with their discreet and captivating beauty. Even several days are not enough to get acquainted with memorable places, to bypass parks, meadows and fields, to visit museums in Mikhailovskoye, Trigorskoye and Petrovskoye estates, the Cultural Center in the village of Pushkinskie Gory, to visit the Svyatogorsky Monastery - the grave of the great poet. Moreover, here one can also visit the preserved estates of the poet's neighbors, where he often used to stay, as well as the village of Bugrovo - a real open-air museum.
