The exhibits of the Memorial and Historical Museum in Volgograd reflect the Civil War. The museum itself is located in a brick building of the former mansion of the Repnikovs. It is the only exhibition area of its kind in the whole region. In it you can see topical exhibitions on the organization of the White movement in the south-east of Russia, the struggle for the establishment of the Soviet power and the subsequent victorious march of the Southern and South-Eastern corps of the Red Army along the Volga.
The mansion of the Memorial and Historical Museum is a red-brick building, decorated with green tented towers and bas-relief columns. Next to the mansion was once the nails factory owned by the Serebryakovs -a rich dynasty in the city. According to legend, the company was founded in this place with malicious intent: to annoy Julia Repnikova with the factory noise, who refused the proposal of one of Serebryakov brothers. The factory building was destroyed during the Battle of Stalingrad.
