The Museum of Jewelry Art is housed in a well-preserved basement of the oldest jewelry store in Kostroma. Here an unusual exhibition is presented, which acquaints with the ancient traditions and craftsmanship of the famous Kostroma jewelers in Russia.
The first Kostroma masters of jewelry business were known even in the medieval Russia. In the XVIII-XIX centuries the works of Kostroma craftsmen adorned the monasteries and tsarist chambers, they were in great demand at fairs and merchants' shops. In the Museum of Jewelry Art one can admire the rare ancient items made of precious and semiprecious metals, which are created in unique techniques, as well as learn that in the XXI century almost half of Russia's jewelry is produced in the Kostroma region.
