The Uvod River, on the bank of which Ivanovo stands, flows through the whole city. A significant part of its shores are gentle slopes, but in the city center from Prospekt Lenina to Sheremetyevsky prospekt there is a kilometer long Embankment, along which it is pleasant to walk. Here one can see a beautiful park, the building of the circus, several hotels, a shopping center and restaurants. A pedestrian bridge «Banny» connects two banks of the river in the middle of the embankment. A mansion in the Art Nouveau style is located at the Prospekt Lenina three hundred meters far from the embankment. Ivanovo's merchant and philanthropist D. G. Burylin opened the only in the world printed cotton museum in this mansion.
There are two sections in the Ivanovsky Printed Cotton Museum. In one of them it is possible to find out the details of the development of the textile industry in Ivanovo and to see how the linen was made with the help of a hand loom, and how later fabrics with a printed pattern appeared on large weaving mills. Another part of the exposition is dedicated to one of the most famous natives of Ivanovo, a world-known fashion designer, Vyacheslav Zaitsev. Here one can find out the details of the biography of the famous fashion designer and listen to lectures on the history of Russian folk costumes. As for the mansion, which housed the museum, then its former owner –“cotton print king” D.G. Burylin - was not only a successful businessman, but also an ardent collector. He collected a magnificent collection of art objects and when the space was not enough for the collection, he demolished one of the buildings of his factory and built a new building in front of his house. Now it houses the Ivanovo State Museum of History and Local Lore named after D.G. Burylin. Earlier both buildings were connected by an underground passage.
