The House with a Hipped Roof is hidden in the center of Tomsk on Krasnoarmeyskaya Street in the greenery of the front garden. This is one of the most beautiful wooden houses in the city. Earlier this place was called Verkhnyaya Yelan. And here in 1902-1904 an amazing mansion was built, resembling a fairy tale. Architect Khomich designed it for the family of a rich Tomsk merchant Yegor Golovanov.
When building the house with a hipped roof, pine trees were preserved, which protect it till now. The two-storey house is all decorated with «lace» and is crowned with a fairy hipped roof. After the revolution of 1917 a children’s sanatorium, an orphanage and a medical school housed the mansion. Since 1993 the house has belonged to the Russian-German House, at the expense of which the last restoration was carried out.
