Epiphany Cathedral in the style of the Siberian Baroque towers in the heart of Tomsk near the place where the Ushayka River flows into Tom. The first Orthodox church was put on this place in the middle of the XVII century. After another fire it was decided to build a stone church. Works on the construction of a modern cathedral began in 1777. The temple was built exclusively on private donations. The upper floor was completed and consecrated 40 years later than the lower one — in 1817. It was in the Epiphany Cathedral that on August 6, 1804 the establishment of the Tomsk province was announced and Tomsk became the capital city of the province. .
In the twentieth century the cathedral was badly damaged. Its new life began in 2003. There is now a museum at the Epiphany Cathedral where one can look at old books, including the ones from the library of the cathedral. At the end of the XIX century it numbered 400 volumes. In addition to books, ancient icons and church utensils are exhibited. People come to the cathedral to touch the particle of the relics of St. Panteleimon and ask him for healing. Every Wednesday the shrine is taken to the temple. A crucifix with a particle of the Holy Cross is kept in the altar.
