The embankment of Admiral Nevelskoy at the Amur River in Khabarovsk is one of the most picturesque and crowded places in the city. It is named in honor of Admiral Gennady Nevelskoy - a researcher of the Far East. The central place of the embankment is the Amur cliff. There is an observation deck here, from which Amur is magnificently visible as well as China on the other side of the river.
Admiral Nevelskoy's embankment is very popular among the townspeople especially in clear sunny weather. This is the most popular place for walking and cycling, roller skating and skateboarding. Residents and guests of the city like to watch festive salutes from here. Free Wi-Fi is available on the embankment. Nearby there is a beach and a small pier from which pleasure boats go on the Amur in the warm season. The central point of the Amur cliff is a monument to Count Muravyov-Amursky, the former governor-general of Eastern Siberia, who made a lot of efforts to develop the Far East. The sculpture was opened in Khabarovsk in 1891by Tsarevich Nicholas, the future Emperor Nicholas II. Count Muravyov on the pedestal looks thoughtfully
towards China. The monument is surrounded by a fence cast from the cast-iron cannons of the XIX century.
