In 1763, the dilapidated Church of St. John Chrysostom was moved to the Bezrodnaya Sloboda of Astrakhan, where the escaped peasants lived. Worship services in its old tumbledown building were conducted for almost 60 years, until a beautiful stone church was built instead of it in 1826. Later the building was rebuilt several times until the temple acquired its present strict classical appearance in the form of a cross.
The Church of St. John Chrysostom is decorated with rich paintings and bas-reliefs with images of saints. Nearby there is a bell tower, restored in the XXI century. The first bell tower was destroyed by a shell during the Civil War. The temple is interesting from the viewpoint of its architectural features.
