The first wooden Catholic church was built in Krasnoyarsk in the middle of the XIX century, but was soon dilapidated, and the brick Gothic Cathedral of the Transfiguration appeared in Decembrists street by 1910. In Soviet times, the church was closed to the parish. It housed a warehouse, then a radio-station, then a cinema, and then the building was destroyed and fell into disrepair.
In 1982, the deserted Cathedral of the Transfiguration was given to the Krasnoyarsk Philharmonic for organ music concerts. Later the cathedral was restored and returned to the Catholic community. Now there are regular worship services, as well as musical events in it.
