The Alley of the Heroes in Volgograd is located on the very spot where once the troops of Marshal Rokossovsky hoisted the red banner in honor of the Soviet Army's victory in the Battle of Stalingrad. This monumental building is in the style of Stalin's empire.
The Alley of the Heroes connects the Square of the Fallen Fighters and the Central Embankment of Volgograd (the 62nd Army Embankment). This space is impressive. There is a commemorative stele along the alley with a list of names of the soldiers who were awarded a Star of Hero of the Soviet Union after the battle. The alley is one of the favorite walking places of the townspeople. On the eve of the New Year, on the city day, the Victory Day and other commemorative dates the alley hosts cultural events and concerts and is illuminated.
