Bucksturm watchtower was built at the beginning of theXIII century as part of the city walls. The tower was originally 28m high.According to legend, the tower was crowned with a design resembling the head ofa goat. But in 1805 the top 10 meters were demolished due to disrepair. Sincethen, 4 floors have remained in the tower. The small loopholes talk about thefact that the people could only shoot from a bow, crossbow or a gun from here.
In the MiddleAges Bucksturm tower started to be used as a prison, and in the XVI-XVIIcenturies it became a place of torture for women accused of witchcraft. Now thetower houses an exhibition dedicated to the witch-hunt. On the west wall of thetower you can see a stone figure of a soldier. This memorial was added in 1822.
