The construction of Osnabrück’s Town Hall lasted 25years and was completed in 1512. It is in this late Gothic mansion that the Protestantssigned the Peace of Westphalia, which created the prototype of the modernunited Europe. The Peace Hall (Friedenssaal) houses an exhibition of theportraits of 42 participants of the World Congress - the representatives ofEuropean royal houses. Among them were Louis XIV, Emperor Ferdinand III andQueen Christina of Sweden.
The Emperor'sCup, a copy of the Treaty of Westphalia, coins, stamps and precious trophiesare kept in the treasury of the city hall.
