The mansion of the late XIX century in neo-baroque style is the home of Josef Thyssen, a major coal industrialist and the younger brother of the founder of Thyssen AG corporation, August Thyssen. The villa where he lived with his Thyssen family in the last 15 years of his life is included in the Route of Industrial Heritage, which brings together several dozen entities associated with the development of the industry of the Ruhr region. The mansion is surrounded by a park on the banks of the Ruhr with a pond, which is considered one of the most beautiful in the city. Although the villa is privately owned, the entrance to the park is open to all.
