The church near Refrath dedicated to John the Baptist is deservedly called Old. It is the same age as the city of Bergisch Gladbach, it was built in the XIII century on the site of a wooden church, which was built 300 years earlier. Although the church was globally reconstructed in the 1980s, part of the early interiors- the arched windows of the beginning of the XIII century, the Gothic frescoes, wooden figures of saints and nine apostles, the cross of 1577 -were preserved in it. It is possible to view the inside of the church only during occasional worship, it is closed at other times.
