The Monastery of the Virgin Mary in Magdeburg was built in the Middle Ages. Now it is a museum of modern art. Its collection includes videos, photos and paintings on "new media". But the most remarkable part of the exhibition, the national collection of small sculptures from the German Democratic Republic, is considered one of the most comprehensive for that period. A sculpture park, recently opened in front of the monastery, is another surprise. It presents the works of contemporary artists from Germany. The large bronze ball with windows is the most impressive. cumbersome at the same time.
