Before Traunreut appeared on the map, the place called Stein Traun was an independent settlement. But now it is one of the city districts. Its center is a castle, from which it got its name - Schloss Stein an der Traun. Now it houses a boarding school and hosts summer courses of the Goethe-Institut.
The historic medieval teiner Burg Festival has been held every summer since 2009, with costumed performances, traditional Bavarian fair, folk songs and dances. This place is a pure idyll. This is a place to visit in warmer seasons of the year to familiarize with the provincial Bavarian life, walk on well-groomed parks and trails.
