Archaeological excavations have shown that the firstbuilding of St. Mary's Church was built in the X century. It acquired themodern Gothic look in the XV century. The main entrance to the church of St.Mary is decorated with ornaments and adorned with figures of stupid and clevervirgins from the biblical story. The coronation of the Virgin Mary is depictedin the center of the entrance. It is a replica of the second half of the XIXcentury, while the original of the XIV century can be seen in the local museumof history of culture (Kulturgeschichtlichen).
The crucifix ofthe XIII century, the engraving "The Passion of the Christ" (1510) byAlbrecht Dürer, the altar and baptismal font of the XVI century are kept in thisLutheran church. The main altar was created in 1520 in Antwerp. Climbing up thenarrow spiral staircase of 196 stairs in the tower, you will get to theobservation deck overlooking the city.
