Schnoor is a historic district in Bremen that once was the residence of urban artisans. There cords, ropes and chains for vessels were braided. Now it is a tourist area with cafes, souvenir shops and street musicians. About the musicians – they are special. True “Bremen Town Musicians” – not the ones from the fairytale – mostly play and sing in this area.
The area of a district is preserved in its original form: there is a small space between the houses, which are located opposite each other, and there stand the tiny houses of medieval masters with almost toy-sized windows. In Schonoor it is possible to feel like a medieval resident of Bremen – the free city of young people, who had not obeyed any ruler.
During a walk through Schnoor district a visit to the Toy Museum and Bremen’s House of History should be paid.
