Pertenstein Castle is the main historical attraction and symbol of Traunreut. It was built in 1290. This castle with a moat and a host of ancillary outbuildings and detached buildings, Pertenstein is a full defense system. At the beginning of the XVII century, the castle was expanded and transformed, in fact, into a large country house. But because of a number of fires over time the main building with a snow-white tower was only left from it.
The castle festival takes place every summer on the small square in front of Pertenshtein Castle with actors in costumes of the Middle Ages and sale of traditional food in kiosks, as well as performances by local bands. The castle hosts important cultural events of Traunreut – ranging from exhibitions and concerts to private parties and corporate events.
