Directions

Old Court, or the Old Residence is the palace of the Bamberg bishops. It was constructed in 1576 in the place of the palace of emperor Henry II. From the Dome Square (Domplatz) you can enter the old court through “Beautiful Gate” with sculptures of Virgin Mary, St. Peter, St. George, St. Henry and St. Cunigunde by Pankraz Wagner. There is a historical museum inside the court. In summer, concerts and plays are conducted in the courtyard, surrounded by old Fachwerk buildings.
