The City Museum occupies a four-story mansion ofthe XIX century. The building was built for winery of the Hoffman family, whoowned one of the largest wine-growing businesses in the Middle Rhine Valley.The environment of 1868, when the mansion belonged to the Hoffmans, has been preservedin the Blue Parlour. The expositions in the other rooms cover the history ofthe Rhenish settlements.
Inthe City Museum of Oberwesel you can also see artifacts of prehistoric timesand landscapes paintings of the Rhine of the German Romanticism era. A specialspace is reserved for household items of ordinary people - sailors, fishermen,winemakers. The museum has a large-scale interactive model of the Rhine Valley,which shows how the region has evolved over time. In another room you can watcha documentary about the history of the Rhine region.
