The open air museum aboutrural life is 40 km from Offenburg, near the village of Gutach, contains sixunique farmhouses of the Black Forest. They are: the High Black Forest House, theHeath House, the House of Gutach, the House of the Kinzig Valley, the House ofHotz, and the House of Schauinsland.
At the museum about rural life you can familiarize with farmers' way oflife in the old times and see old rustic buildings: a barn, a mill, a sawmill, abakery, and a distillery. All the buildings date to the XVI-XVIII centuries. Visitorsare allowed to get in the houses and see the original furniture and householdutensils. Every year, the museum attracts more than 300,000 visitors, making itthe most popular open-air museum in Germany.
