In its glory Michelfeld Castle is second only to its"big brother", Eichtersheim Castle, which is older for about a hundred years. They cannot becompared in size, either. It is still one of the most important attractions ofAngelbachtal. It's rather not a castle: it does not have walls and towers orfortifications, in general. It’s a Baroque building. It was built in 1753 forthe aristocratic family Gemmingen-Hornberg, the then owners of Michelfeld.
Michelfeld Castlebecame the center of the settlement called Michelfeld, which in 1972 mergedwith the neighboring Eichtersheim. This merger formed the current city ofAngelbachtal. Being there on a fine day is a pleasure. The castle itself is notvery big and a tour of it will take no more than half an hour. However, thepicturesque square disposes for walk and Angelbachtal’s center is not too far fromit.
