The Market Square in Weiden is not just the heart of the city, but also one of the most aesthetically attractive places. The medieval houses, closely pressed to each other, surprise with their Renaissance facades. The Old Town Hall (Alte Rathaus) looks simpler. It is ivy-cloaked and has a painted facade. The city council holds meetings at the Town Hall, but earlier there was a shopping area here (on the first floor), and an entertainment area for dancing and listening to music (on the second floor).
The Lower and Upper Markets adjoin Market Square in Weiden. They blend in with Market Square, so it is difficult to understand where one space ends and the other begins. In good weather it is extremely nice to sit on the terrace of one of the local cafes here and have beer or coffee.
