Geleucht is a bright red tower, which resembles amining lamp of the mid XIX century. This monument to the mining industry, whichplayed a huge role in the development of the country, is located north of Moers.
The lamp-towerstands on an artificial 100-meter high hill called Rhine-Prussian spoil tip (HaldeRheinpreußen)which has remained here from coal mining. You can climb the observation deck ofthe 28-meter high tower and enjoy the beautiful view of the Ruhr region and theRhine Valley. The monument of steel was created by Otto Ping. Total of 1.2million Euros were spent for this project in the frames of the spoil tip improvement.
