Fürstlich Drehna Castlein the same-name village was built as a residence for the local princes in themiddle of the XVI century. Subsequently, the castle acquired Renaissancefeatures. In the XIX century a park was created around the castle as per thedesign of the eminent Prussian landscape architect Peter Joseph Lenne, the authorof Sanssouci Park in Potsdam and of the Dresden Zoo plan.
A large part ofthe park with a pond was destroyed in the days of the GDR because of miningactivities these places and the castle was used as a colony for minors for sometime. Only in the 2000s, the castle was restored and made a hotel.
