Construction of the late gothic church of Frauenkirchebegan in 1320 and finished only after almost 200 years! At this, it is theyoungest church in the Old Town of Esslingen. The height of the church is 72metres. Prominent master Ulrich von Ensinger who later created the cathedraldome in Ulm – the tallest in the world – participated in its construction. InFrauenkirch you have to see the 15th century stained-glass windowsat the choir aisle and the modern stained-glass windows in the eastern part ofthe church. It is interesting to observe the statues in the portals. Here you willfind St. George defeating the serpent, Christ with Virgin Mary and John theBaptist, scenes from the Doomsday.
