Franconian museum of brewing is located in one of the buildings of the former Benedictine monastery of St. Michael, founded in 1015. The abode was restored several times: first after the earthquake in the 12th century, then after the fire in the 17th. Today the main halls of the monastery are again under construction, however beer museum continues functioning. The first mentioning of beer produced within the walls of the monastery dates back to 1122. In the museum you will learn the nuances of the process in detail: malt collection, fermentation process, storage in a cold cellar, filtration, filling the barrels and bottles… There are regular samplings and lections in the museum for acquaintance with the rich beer traditions of Franconia.
