The Evangelical Church in Moers was built in theVIII century. The first church building has not been preserved and only theRomanesque basilica of the XII century with a Gothic choir of the XIV centuryand the bells cast in the XVII century have survived. A circular wall, with whichthe building in the XIII century was enclosed, is considered one of the firstbrick buildings in the Rhine Valley.
The EvangelicalChurch in Moerse is one of the seven oldest churches in Germany! It is notable thatthis temple has two weather vanes in the form of a cock and a hen which neverlook in the same direction. Today, the Evangelical Church tower houses aprivate museum (Turmmuseum). There is a renovated room inside, where the Bibleof 1577 and the old church records, as well as the correspondence of the Kingof Prussia are kept. Other rooms exhibit objects of the medieval life, such ascarved wooden spoons. In the museum, you can try to write on a handmade paperwith a goose-quill and ink, as it was done before, and seal the message by a churchwax seal.
