Impressive fortress of Ehrenberg over the Neckar riverwas built on the high hill in the beginning of the 12th century. Astrong medieval construction with inaccessible towers had an important defensivefunction. In the 17th-18th centuries the so-called lowercastle was constructed on one of the slopes of the castle hill that by thebeginning of the 19th century was passed to the noble family of von Raknitz.
Representativesof the von Raknitz family still live in the lower castle. The upper part of theEhrenberg fortress is in ruins today, here you will find a nursery for birds:falcons, eagles, and hawks. You can see Ehrenburg only from the outside.
