Offenburg Municipal Museumopened in 1900 in the three-storey Knights’ House of the XVIII century. At theinitiative of the museum's founder Carl Frowin Mayer, colonialartifacts- African masks, jewelry from the Pacific Islands, Chinese silk, aswell as hunting trophies from the African continent appeared in the museum'scollection.
You can see local prehistoric finds, coins, books, produce by medievalmasters in the museum. The permanent exhibition covers the economic miracle ofOffenburg that occurred after the revolution of 1848 and reached its peak inthe 1950s. A separate hall of the museum contains a collection of minerals fromOrtenau region.
