The main attraction of Furth im Wald - the hero of the August Drachenstich Festival – needs its house. The Dragon Museum, located in the heart of the town, just serves this purpose. It is open all year round. Everything here reminds of the fire-breathing monster. The museum visitors follow the winding labyrinth, until finally face with the dragon ...
A giant named Tradinno appears before the Dragon Museum visitors in its full splendor. The huge robot dragon was created by professionals from Hollywood, and has entered the Guinness Book of Records for its enormousness. It is 15.5 meters long and weighs 11 tons. To heighten the effect, the robot-dragon is injected with a liquefied gas, for it to belch flames, and in order to make the scene of victory of the knight Udo more realistic, the dragon bleeds in the most dramatic moment. This effect is achieved by filling the giant with 80 liters of artificial blood.
The Dragon Museum in Furth im Wald will especially kindle children’s interest. You see, it is something quite unique indeed. In addition to the museum, there is also a dragon lake and a dragon garden next to Furth im Wald, where you can learn more about the main town legend. The Hollywood-made dragon was also noticed by filmmakers. In particular, it was used when filming the extremely popular TV series "Game of Thrones".
